Visitor Recommendation

Hello fellow Texans, I will be visiting Houston for business. I haven’t been to Houston since the late 90s when I was in college, so I know it has changed since then. I was reading online and the reviews for hotels were hit or miss. Do you have some recommendations for where to stay and what part of the city to stay in? I would like somewhere safe to walk to eating places (fast casual/fast food) near the hotel. Thanks in advance
