Visiting from NYC for a few weeks, need refills on controlled substances.

Hey y’all!

I am visiting Houston (and Austin next week) and inadvertently timed my visit for when I run out of refills for klonopin and vyvanse.

I am soon to be out of both and am starting to panic. My NYC doctor can’t prescribe controlled substances in Texas but she did provide me a letter to show a Texan medical provider that I am on these meds.

I understand that laws here are stricter, and to get a stimulant I need an EKG and a urine drug test (on this point, I’m worried they won’t prescribe my meds because I smoke weed – it’s 100% legal in NY state).

I’ve called Village Medical (they won’t do it) and some urgent cares (they also won’t do it).

What are my options here? I am worried and anxious about this… they’re not LIFE sustaining medications and the woman I spoke on the phone with at the most recent urgent care I called said the ER may only give me a day or twos worth of meds and my ER copay is $500… I’d like to avoid that if possible.

Please no judgmental comments about my medical issues. I appreciate it 🙂 thanks so much, it has thus far been a lovely time here despite the heat and humidity lol.
