VillaSport lays off over 100 across Houston-area locations

San Rafael, California-based VillaSport will lay off 138 across all three of its Houston locations. 

The layoffs are effective Dec. 21, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter. The gym chain said that the layoffs were due to the downturn in the demand for facilities like VillaSport. 

The employees being laid off are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights, meaning workers with more seniority cannot take jobs from those with less seniority.
