Veteran assistance for md anderson treatment

I’m currently in Housten getting my wife medical treatment at the md anderson facility. It was our initial visit and we won’t know a treatment plan until Friday. Her surgery is scheduled for April 3rd so we are looking for a short term furnished apartment to stay until the surgery and for her recovery and treatment after. The social workers won’t be able to help us until Friday when we have a treatment plan. The hotel rates are killing us because of the rodeo. I am a veteran and called the fisher house but they told me I had to be the patient. I was wondering if anyone had any other resources other than Joe’s house for housing? Veteran or otherwise. I’m extremely overwhelmed.
