Vaccine Misinformation is Killing Houstonians

After watching Judge Hidalgo’s press conference, I though she was way too generous to those of you who choose out of defiance to not get vaccinated. Someone needs to tell you this because it might just save your life. Someone that cares about you needs to have this come to Jesus talk with you before you end up in the hospital. The misinformation you choose to believe, out of ignorance, is putting your life, your family’s life, and the lives of the public in direct danger. We’re seeing a self inflicted new wave of covid thanks in large part to the unvaccinated. I can’t tell you how many times people end up in the ICU on their deathbed asking the doctor for a vaccine, and the doctor responding that it’s too late. You can’t just get a lung transplant when covid has literally eaten up your lungs. 350 new hospital admissions yesterday in TMC alone. You know each of these major hospitals only have a few ICU beds, right? 24 hour waits to get a bed in the ER. HFD ambulances having no hospital to unload patients. The healthcare capital of the world is begging for relief. There’s too many of you pouring in. This doesn’t have to happen when we have a vaccine that’s 85-95% effective.

You may think you have the perfect immune system. Let me ask you this. What happens when you get into a bad car accident, fall down and bust your head, bust a vein in your brain, suffer from a heart attack, rupture a blood vessel, get a nasty cut on your arm, come down with a bad case of food poisoning, etc? What if not you, but a family member? Or a friend? Where do they go? There’s literally no room and not enough hospital staff to treat you.

And for those who believed, like I did, that I shouldn’t have to worry because I’m vaccinated. Let ‘them’ play Russian Roulette with their lives. Unfortunately, the choice to remain unvaccinated will help forge COVID-19 as a permanent healthcare crisis for humanity. These variants adapt. They eventually become resistant to vaccines. Despite all our efforts, COVID was the leading cause of death last year for the human race. Let that sink in.

This delta variant has a much higher infectivity rate (R0 of 8-9). Basic statistics tells us that without prior immunity or antibodies, there’s no escaping this variant. It’s a matter of ‘when’ not if.

For your sake, for the sake of your loved ones, please get vaccinated. Sometimes in this great country, in this great state, we get the ability — the right — to ‘choose’ when in fact the ‘right’ choice could not be more clear.
