Urban One / DLP / Banyan

Howdy,

I am currently dealing with an urgent issue that I need some advice / extra ears and eyes on regarding my previous tenancy with Urban One Properties. Our building was just foreclosed on and both parties (old owner and new owner) are now saying that the $1525 credit we had in our account that we were prorating towards our rent each month as well as our deposit money has been lost in translation. This is over $3300 that has now been stolen and cannot be accounted for by either party. Doesn’t the new owner have a legal responsibility to all assets and liabilities (liabilities being our deposit and the credit on our account) regardless of if the money was sent from previous owners or not? I have documentation of my ledger as it was the day the foreclosure happened, as well as my lease from the old property manager.

Also, if you are a resident going through this with these companies let me know. We need to meet up and all push back. I am aware of 4+ properties that were effected.

If you’re a lawyer or have any legal advice you can share, please do. Happy to provide any additional information where needed.
