United to buy supersonic jets from Boom Supersonic
United Airlines — the busiest airline in Houston — said it’s going to buy 15 supersonic jets from Boom Supersonic.
United (Nasdaq: UAL) is the first U.S. airline to purchase the Boom jet, according to the Denver-based aviation company.
The Chicago carrier (Nasdaq: UAL) will buy 15 Boom “Overture” planes, and it has an option to buy 35 additional planes “once Overture meets United’s demanding safety, operating and sustainability requirements,” the company said.
