United Airlines’ changing of the guard occurring Wednesday

Wednesday, May 20, marks a changing of the guard at United Airlines following the company’s annual shareholder meeting.

CEO Oscar Munoz is becoming the airline’s executive chair, and President Scott Kirby is replacing him as CEO in a transition announced in December.

Munoz has served as CEO of United (Nasdaq: UAL) since 2015. He’ll serve as the airline’s executive chairman for a one-year term.

Munoz recruited Kirby, with a 30-year career in the commercial airline business, to United in 2016.
