Unique (non-food/drink) Houston Activities for Tourists

Does anyone have any suggestions for where we can take family visiting Houston (or within 1.5 hours drive) from out Of state.

They are coming from NYC. So not looking for suggestions like Memorial Park / Hermann Park or Galleria etc since they arguably have better versions for those back home. Looking for more houston specific suggestions.

A good one which someone suggested was Kemah Boardwalk or Galveston Pleasure Pier. Any other suggestions such as these?
