Ump Scorecard Bias Revisited

On this subreddit, ump scorecards were getting posted at the end of August into early September pointing out the “ump favorability” was going against us. The last post pointed out 17 of the last 18 were against us. However, since then (September 3rd-Now), it has favored us the last 11 of 12 games. I think it’s safe to say there’s no conspiracy.

You may notice we are 3rd worst in the league on Average Pitcher Impact (ie our pitchers get the 3rd worst calls on average). This is likely due to our catchers. Yanier Diaz is #53 with -5 framing runs on 1196 pitches (-.00418 per pitch) and the 4th worst Strike Rate. Martin Maldonado is #64 (last) with -17 framing runs on 2912 pitches (-.00584 per pitch) and the 2nd worst strike rate.
