Truth about the Tank or “rebuild”

There have been a lot of posts on here that completely contradict what we “knew” was happening before the season. As we move into this offseason there are going to be a lot of positives that happen and each step we will all act surprised and I’m not sure why.

2022 : Going into last offseason we had the following holding us back and we knew it would be a Tank year or “rebuild” if you prefer. Because of these issues we all knew we couldn’t attract a HC or Free Agents.

• Cash strapped with bad contracts

• No Franchise QB and no QBs coming out in the draft

• Easterby in the building with an unknown role and unchecked power

• Watson still on our team. Only later in the offseason was it possible to masterfully trade him for more than his worth.

• A total lack of talent at any key role outside of arguably Brandin Cooks?

There was no HC willing to come in, so we began our coach search with Josh McCown, Hines Ward and other inept potential coaching candidates. We spoke to some solid coaches but it was clear they didn’t want the job. We needed a patsy and we settled for someone already in the building.

Going into 2023 :

• Caserio has feed up Cap and gotten rid of most of the bad contracts. More to be freed when Cooks is gone.

• We have a Top 2 pick with multiple QBs coming out that will attract many coaches.

• We have a core of talent all on rookie contracts, especially bright with Harris, Pierce, and Pitre along with pieces that can have marked improvement in Stingley and Green as well as Metchie in the wings.

• Last offseason Caserio said on 610 “in 2023 we plan to be very active in Free Agency”. When asked a follow up about if that meant some big names players he implied a Yes.

• New uniforms on the way.

Here is what I expect to see coming soon:

• February : New HC hired. This will excite fans and breathe some hope.

• March 15th. At least 2 “big” names in Free Agency. I’m betting a DT and a Safety, but exactly who doesn’t matter now.

• April : Brandin Cooks will get traded for another starting Player straight up (maybe we toss in a 6th). Caserio seems to do a good job understanding other rosters and who is in the bubble.

• Late April: We will get our franchise QB along with an Edge or a WR which will get fans absolutely pumped. (Along with other players obviously)

• June : We will unveil new team Uniforms and most will be ecstatic while a minority will cry all over the board about it 🤣. Maybe me… who knows?

• July : Texans will be on Hard Knocks

• August : JJ Watt signs a 1 day contract and retired a Texan. It’s a glorious holiday in Houston.

Cheer up people. We have a lot of good to come and we shouldn’t act surprised. It’s clearly been our plan from the beginning. Nothing that’s happened so far feels like it went against plan (other than the Hail Mary)
