traffic violation help

Hi. I am a little confused about defensive driving because in another county I lived in, we just request online with the court. I want to request defensive driving, but it looks like I either need to request in person, by mail, or in court. Does this sound accurate? It was a small violation, crossing a solid white line on empty westheimer at 10pm at night. Unsure how to proceed any help would be appreciated thank you.
