Timid driver in Houston

Hi everyone, i’m looking to move to Houston later this year for work and I’m super excited :)) however, i am a very timid driver and am worried about getting around because I’ve heard the cars go a lil fast n furious there.

Anyone have any advice or have a similar situation? Does it get better the more you drive around? I’m coming from San Antonio, for context.
