Last Sunday we embraced our inner boomer and saw Al Di Meola at Heights Theater. It was a great time seeing a legendary guitarist. He first played Houston at the age of 19 in 1973, a concert made memorable when Carlos Santana emerged from the audience to play with the band.

1. Astro Inn + Bayou City Funk – if you search for Astro Inn you’ll find a roach-infested motel with questionable security off I-45, but you’ll also find this energetic Houston indie pop band that will join the excellent Bayou City Funk at Dan Electro’s this Friday at 9:00pm.
2. Nick Shoulders & The Okay Crawdad – hailing from Ozarks, he now calls New Orleans home, and will bring his yodeling-infused country sound to Heights Theater 8:00pm this Friday.
3. Pink Sweat$ – this Philly-based artist’s debut album Pink Planet made the Billboard 200 in 2021. His chill R&B ballads will be found at the UH Cullen Center Saturday at 8:00pm.
