This is the time of year teams think they solved their QB position. Why trade D4 now?
Going into this off-season, these are the teams who had questions at the QB position and how they “solved” their needs.
Broncos – Teddy Panthers – Darnold WFT – Fitz Philly – Hurts Saints – Jameis Chi- Dalton/Fields NYJ- Wilson Indy- Wentz (not happening tho)
On top of that, here is a list of teams with a QB that avg to below avg that teams will realize they will need to upgrade to win:
NYG – Jones MIN – Kirk Mia – Tua? Pit – Big Ben (retiring) Det – Goff LV – Carr? ATL- Ryan
With that being said, why in the world would the Texans sell low now when after week 18 this year so many teams will likely be in the market for a QB in either FA or the draft, who would much rather have the sure thing in D4. At that point any suspension he has would likely be satisfied. This is the time of false hope … reality will soon hit that these QBs are nowhere near D4 and the Texans will be able to get a bidding war going. Just dumb to move now when 2-3 teams MAY be interested?
Also, as I was typing this .. are the Steelers not a dark horse to trade for him? Big Ben’s last year, no Backup option, brand that would overshadow the dirt, good HC, young players to move. I mean it’s a long shot and Caserio might value a high picks, which the Steelers likely won’t have.. but they’d be willing to pay..
