This is the deepest offense the Texans have ever had.
On paper, I would say this is the best starting offense the Texans have ever put together. However, games aren’t played on paper and it would be foolish to grant this team the best offense in team history without any results yet.
What I am willing to say though is this is the deepest offense I have ever seen on this team. With the additions of Blake Fisher and Jawhar Jordan in the draft, the only position I feel like we could be seriously hurt losing a starter to injury would be QB, and there’s obviously no real solution there.
With receivers we are incredibly deep. Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Noah Brown, John Metchie. We could lose 2 of our top 3 guys and still have great production. We saw that last year with Nico and Noah Brown going off in Tank’s absence. Diggs moved the floor and ceiling significantly higher.
At running back we have Joe Mixon to be our bell cow starter. He can do it all. If he goes down, I think our backups can successfully supplement his production in the aggregate. Dameon Pierce with the power running and Jawhar Jordan with the pass catching/outside runs.
At Tackle we have Tunsil obviously, Tytus Howard, rookie Blake Fisher who has a lot of experience on both sides of the line, and Charlie Heck who was huge for us filling in last season.
At IOL we have Scruggs at Center and Patterson who was very good filling in last year. Shaq Mason was good at guard, Kenyon and Kendrick Green are competent, and we all know Tytus Howard can swing inside if we need him to.
At TE obviously Schultz is the big dog but Brevin Jordan has been a solid contributor and I feel really good about rookie Cad Stover.
Unless CJ were to get injured (Lord Jesus please do not let that happen, he loves you so much, take care of him) this offense will be cooking even with inevitable injuries to other positions.
The defensive starters look incredible but we are a lot thinner over there. I feel very good knowing the offense can carry even if the road gets bumpy.
