Thinking of relocating from San Diego to Houston. Advice needed

As the title says my wife, myself my 3 yr old, 1 yr old and two dogs are thinking of moving from San Diego to Houston. I work from home and will be able to take my cali tech salary with me. We could sell our house here and get into one in Texas 3x the size for the same price.
Any advice on what parts of Houston to live in? What parts to stay away from? What’s the culture like? Things to do. Etc
