Ongoing – Samuel Fosso: African Spirits Exhibition @ Menil Samuel Fosso: African Spirits features the artist’s fourteen, large-scale gelatin silver photographs from African Spirits.
Ongoing – Marcia Kure Exhibition @ Menil Drawing Institute The Menil Drawing Institute’s Wall Drawing Series presents a new monumental work by artist Marcia Kure, the third of an ongoing series of ephemeral, site-specific wall drawings.
Ongoing – Miss Maude @ The George Theater The A.D. Players presents Martin Casella's newest play based on the true story of photographer Eugene Smith and Maude Callen.
All Weekend – 'Good Vibrations' Ballet @ 7:30PM (THU/SAT) @ 2PM (SUN)) Good Vibrations sets the stage with a triple bill full of energy, elation and a long-awaited world premiere.
THURSDAY – SEPTEMBER 22
Light from the East Screening @ MFAH @ 6PM The film portrays a personal journey behind the Iron Curtain while highlighting Ukraine’s historic struggle to maintain independence from Russia. In Ukrainian with English subtitles; free admission with ticket.
Art Encounters | Patchwork Play @ MFAH @ 6PM This Art Encounters session focuses on creating a large fabric collage, inspired by Emma Balder’s sculptural paintings and El Anatsui’s Visitation. Admission is free. Supplies are provided.
'The New Ideal Office in the Hybrid Era' Lecture @ MFAH @ 6:30PM Join architect and strategist Clive Wilkinson to discuss the emergence and nature of hybrid work and how the phenomenon can become a magnet for community to ensure its continued relevance.
