Bayou City Art Festival @ Sam Houston Park Downtown SAT/SUN Bayou City Art Festival Downtown is a signature art event for the city of Houston and continues to be ranked as one of the nation's "Top Ten" fine art festivals. More than 220 artists from every corner of North America, representing 19 disciplines of art, will once again come together in Houston this weekend for 2 days full of art, music, food, and entertainment.
Ongoing – Zoo Boo 2022 @ Houston Zoo Celebrate fall festivities at the Zoo during Zoo Boo 2022. Costumes are strongly encouraged, and guests will have plenty of favorites to experience, including visiting the Giant Pumpkin, Pumpkin Lantern Tunnel, Carved Pumpkins, and much more!
Ongoing – Miss Maude @ The George Theater The A.D. Players presents Martin Casella's newest play based on the true story of photographer Eugene Smith and Maude Callen.
All weekend – Hadestown Broadway Show @ The Hobby Center Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards, this acclaimed new musical by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin is a love story for today… and always.
All weekend – "She's Got Soul" @ Houston Symphony at Jones Hall @ 8PM (FRI/SAT) @ 2:30PM (SUN) The sensational Capathia Jenkins brings her powerhouse voice to soulful hits of Toni Braxton, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Adele, and more!
All weekend – The 43rd Annual Festival Chicano @ Miller Outdoor Theater @ 7PM The festival is a celebration of culture through the musical expression of countless generations of artists.
FRIDAY & SATURDAY – "Hold Me Tight" Screening @ MFAH @ 7PM Vicky Krieps ("Phantom Thread") gives a riveting performance as Clarisse, a woman on the run from her family for reasons that aren’t immediately clear. "Hold Me Tight" keeps you uncertain about the reality of what you’re seeing until the final moments of the unpredictable family drama.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY – FotoFest Biennial @ MFAH This symposium brings together leading voices in art, music, theory, and writing to examine key issues explored by the artists in the "If I Had a Hammer" exhibition.
THURSDAY – OCTOBER 6
Happy Hour Thursday @ MFAH @ 5PM Meet your friends at the MFAH for the best night of the week. Explore the campus, visit the galleries, and get a drink at the bar. General admission is free.
Bowling for Rhinos 2022 @ Houston Zoo / Main Event Webster @ 6PM Come play bowling and save rhinos! Each year the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) sponsors fundraising bowling events called “Bowling For Rhinos” (BFR), which supports conservation efforts.

Ongoing – Stargazing @ George Observatory in Needville The George Observatory has reopened after nearly two years undergoing an extreme makeover. Enjoy the wonders of the universe on the upper deck of the Observatory with constellation laser tours, a combination of deck and dome telescopes, or captured live camera feeds. Amateur astronomers will guide you on your journey through the heavens, whether you are looking at night sky constellations, planets in our solar system or deep sky objects out in space.
Plants in the Park After Dark @ Market Square Park @ 5PM The market takes place at Market Square Park with a curated selection of vendors offering a diverse range of products including rare plants, beginner-friendly plants, soaps, candles, earrings, jewelry, ceramics and cement pottery, plant accessories/supplies, snack foods, and honey! Hot food vendors include tacos, barbecue, and more.
Celebrating Black Composers @ Houston Symphony at Jones Hall @ 10AM / 11:30AM Take a musical journey through time as the Symphony pays homage to over a century of trailblazing Black artists, from classical music to ragtime, jazz, classic rock, and beyond!
