There’s almost zero risk in signing Saquon

Running backs are one of the lowest paid position groups now, even for top players like Saquon.

Here are the current highest paid running back contracts:

  • McCaffrey: 4yr – $64m ($38m guaranteed)
  • Kamara: 5yr – $75m ($33m guaranteed)
  • Aaron Jones: 4yr – $48m ($13m guaranteed)
  • Jonathan Taylor: 3yr – $36m ($26.5m guaranteed)
  • Nick Chubb: 3yr – $36m ($20m guaranteed)

Saquon is elite when healthy, but he's consistently had injury struggles. I think he gets a deal slightly higher than JT, probably 4yr $55m~ ($25-$30m guaranteed).

1 year of Mike Evans salary would be about the same as Saquons entire guaranteed contract.

Re-signing Jonathan Greenard or even Steven Nelson would probably cost more. Dalton Schultz will probably be 90% the cost.

We have s**t tons of cap space and Saquons deal would only be guaranteed for 2 years, which aligns perfectly with CJ's rookie contract timeline.

When you take into consideration the upside (2022 Giants made playoffs bc of him), this really isnt even a gamble.

Worst comes to worst, he gets hurt and we have a relatively big contract on the books we can easily afford. This isnt like splurging on a QB / DE / WR and him sucking. If Saquon doesnt perform its not that burdensome

Regardless, I would want us to draft another running back in the mid-late rounds (assuming we let Motor walk). We also could bring him back with Saquon and be financially completely fine as well lol
