The Tunsil contract is a bad contract. It has zero team benefit.

We are paying Tunsil to be the highest paid tackle for the next 3 years. After 3 years, we will then either sign him again to another dumb short term extension or let him go.

This contract doesn’t fit the timeline for the Texans at all nor is it team friendly in any way. It is a garbage contract that Caserio stupidly gave out. Either give the guy a 6/$150 million deal to make it an actually decent deal or trade him for multiple firsts/first and additional picks if possible.

The big thing people are missing is that our QB will be up for an extension potentially once Tunsil’s contract is up. Then what? We let Tunsil go instead of being able to keep him because we did another short term deal. We can’t pay our QB $40-50 million a year and then also pay a tackle $30-35 million for another 3 years at the same time. If we had given a 6 year deal, we could’ve kept Tunsil for the next 6 years of our rookie QB’s career.

People will act happy about this, but it’s a bad contract when considering the longterm implications.

Edit: This deal also shows how weak Caserio is. Dude couldn’t even get a 4/100 million deal at the minimum.
