Plus, a new food hall in Katy and Tapas on the Trail hits the Arboretum

Trump’s MAGA cult of personality has extended to include burgers. The latest hot accessory for his followers, a burger with his last name branded on the bun, has achieved so much interest since it hit the scene in 2020 that it’s expanding (again): Following the announcement that a location will open in Houston early this year, owner Roland Beainy says the burgeoning burger chain will open another new location in Kemah on Galveston Bay, Fox Business reports. Trump himself has no involvement.

And now, another food hall

It took two years, but the Katy Food Hall is complete. The Houston Chronicle reports that the vendors include Main Chicken, which serves Nashville hot chicken; Dripped Birria, known for its — fittingly — dripping quesabirria tacos; and Bun Slut, which is all about those smash burgers. A grand opening celebration will happen on February 15 and 16.

Tapas on the Trail returns

The Houston Arboretum and Nature Center will host its annual Tapas on the Trails event on February 15. Food and nature? Talk about two great tastes that taste great together. The menu is by Cotton Culinary out of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Kelly Prohl of Double Decanted, and Lennie Ambrose of Saint Arnold Brewing Company. The event includes five stations with food and wine pairings, including porcini mushroom “beggars’ purse,” blackened shrimp deviled eggs, stuffed cabbage rolls, a Mexican shaved street taco, rhubarb and star anise sorbet, and raspberry sopapilla cheesecake. Tickets are on sale now for $100 per person — proceeds benefit the Arboretum.
