The Texans have shown us they donāt expect anything good to come of these Deshaun allegations and likely wonāt be able to find a trade partner any time soon (2 to 3 years) if at all. And some hopeš
Father Nick and Father Easterby have finally blessed us with some direction!!šš»šš» But itās not looking great for Deshaun or any potential return the Texans could receive in a trade (if we are able to trade him at all), and there are two glaring reasons why have nothing to do with the allegations that are a year at best from being tried in court.
THIS IS A PURELY FOOTBALL PERSPECTIVE Sexual assault canāt be tolerated at any level. Deshaun will have his day and he will be able to explain his side of the story, but from what has come out there seems to be a clear pattern of abuse. I urge you to check out the ESPN article on the allegations if you havenāt or check out the Watson Lawsuit Megathread:
Summary of Lawsuits against Deshaun Watson

The Texans rUshEd (ya right opening day of free agency is proof of tampering but the NFL dgaf, this deal was made when the Texans learned of allegations) to sign Tyron Taylor opening day of free agency. He fits Culleyās system and is clearly the favorite to start going into the year. Cas also dished out a 6th for Ryan Finley to come in as a starter. If he was going to get cut anyway why would Houston give up a 6th for a third string QB? He is clearly planning this year without Deshaun or any trade return in mind. Follow the money. Deshaun or any returns for Deshaun arenāt coming till at least 2022. Buck up for a long ride Texans fans.

There is no way the God fearing Jack Easterby Texans would purposefully put these sort of allegations out or knowingly sign anybody but a ārole model to the communityā. Easterby and Cala pompous Sunday school player requirement has driven me crazy in the past but it supposed to prevent situations like this. The idea the Texans themselves put out theses allegations is absurd. Putting out allegations like these do not benefit the franchise at all, it would be one thing if it were ONE allegation right before contract negotiations and believe me NFL teams get dirtyyyy. This is a completely different situation, thereās a possibility Deshaun never plays again; yesterday on Rich Eisen:
ESPNās Jeff Darlington on Possibility Deshaun Watson Never Plays in NFL Again
Which would be the most Texans outcome ever right? We finally get our QB after years of Osweilers, Fitzpatricks (give hike back), weedens, yatesā, Keenums, Malletts, and Hoyers (Jesus off the noggin, Iād sit through 20 years of Ryan Mallett for just one of Brady or Manning) and he represents the city like this!! If Iām another team I wouldnāt touch this guy with a 20 yard stick even if he could get past it in under two seconds.
Until these allegations are taken to court, Deshaun either serves his sentence or spends a year clearing his name in court and that makes him even remotely viable to trade for let alone give up a significant haul. The recent rumors of teams still being interested has got to be smoke and mirrors. Sexual assault cases like these can loom over a team for a long time and if Iām a QB away from a contender there is no way I am disrupting that position with at least a year of litigation.
And finally a little hope (Iāll try)
Cas has been getting a lot of heat for the mass amounts of one year deals this year but I for one love it. Itās a year of mass uncertainty and I believe a lot of these guys are transitional pieces into Culleyās system I.e. Tyrod and Phillip Lindsay. Flexibility is EVERYTHING in todayās NFL. If Culley is clearly not ready for a head coaching job we will find out THIS year. But thatās another post for another day.
Hang in there Texans fans, itās gonna be a rollercoaster.
