“The national media hates us” is a silly take
I’ve always the felt the idea that “the national media hates us and is looking for ways to smear us” is a bit silly. It’s been repeated here for years.
We’re a relatively young, unstoried, unsuccessful team with a fanbase that’s in significant part checked out over the last few years.
We have had very few star players over the last several years. We have traditionally had a very tight-lipped front office.
It’s not a very lucrative team to talk about or one that’s going to generate a ton of clicks. It’s not an easy team to even find things to talk about, and the juice probably isn’t worth the squeeze for most sports journalists to do a lot of research on us.
Due to the Tunsil and Hopkins trades as well as our rebuilding status, conversation about our roster has largely been looking at our players as a vector for other teams to get better.
There isn’t some media conspiracy to make the Texans look like failures, aside from maybe briefly with the Amy situation a while back. I don’t know why so many people insist on acting like victims for being fan of a football team in Texas.
