The Mixon trade makes sense when looking at the draft this year

It’s a bad draft class for running backs. This allows the Texans to draft a back next year while signing Mixon as a good number 2 back on the cheap hopefully.

Drafting a running back next year on a rookie deal is a lot better than overpaying for a running back like Saquan. This was a smart move for a back that will most likely produce similar results as Jacobs or Saquan without the big financial commitment.
