The Lakewood Shooter was a schizophrenic and used an AR-15 that she legally purchased in December.
Her neighbor had also said that she had reported her for years about her behavior but nothing was ever done. A criminal background and a history of mental health illness and was still able to buy that weapon because of our lack of red flag laws in Texas.
I've been fearing the day would come that there would be an attempted mass shooting here in Houston but it's here now. This shooting could have been so much more worse if it hadn't been for those two officers that reacted quickly and everyone in that church was incredibly lucky. But I'm just afraid now that this is not going to be the last time that we will see something like this happen in this city again even in this state.
From here on we have to be much more careful, much more alert with our loved ones especially while being in large gathering places.
