The break ins + car theft at Camden Greenway are out of control

In 2020 we were looking for a new place to live and I remember checking reviews of Camden Greenway and seeing a lot of reviews regarding break ins/theft, mostly dealing with people stealing tires off of people’s cars that were parked in the gated parking garages.

Despite this, the rent was cheap enough, space was nice enough, and there seemed to be enough good reviews to offset the bad ones.

Fast forward to 2024, been here for 4 years now, and while I have been lucky enough to to not experience any of this, every single month we get multiple emails notifying us about crime in the area.

I’d say at minimum, 1 vehicle gets stolen per month, usually 1-2 other people have their tires stolen or cars broken into, and every now and then a home invasion.

This past week there were 3 home invasions.

Upon going through their Google reviews, this has been a frequent occurrence for over 10 years now, with no decrease in frequency.

15% of the review are 1 star and almost 100% of the 1 star reviews mentions theft / break ins.

When I tried leaving a review about the crime my review doesn’t get posted ?

I emailed them asking why they don’t install cameras in the hallways (hallways are our door/public areas) and was told it’s legal. When I told them that’s actually not true they changed their tune and 2 dif managers emailed me, one saying it’s a privacy issue and “not everyone wants to be surveyed 24/7” and the other saying they’d have to increase rent if they installed cameras in the hallways. They also old me it’s up to me and the community to do our part to keep an eye out on crime. Actually no, it’s not my job to do that.

If this has been a common trend for over a decade, nothing has reduced the frequency, and it’s the #1 thing people leave bad reviews over, you’d think it would promo some change / action?

I lived less than 1/2 a mile down the street before this and they never had this issue.

I’m starting to think it’s an inside job because at most they hire ONE patrol person for the entire complex for a few weeks after an incident then they let said patrol person go, then boom, another break in.

Has anyone else heard about these scenarios or have any insight on this?
