Texas Medical Center’s normal ICU bed capacity almost exceeded

The Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in Texas, is close to exceeding its normal ICU capacity as Covid-19 cases continue to climb.

There were 1,298 ICU beds occupied in the TMC on June 23 — over 97% of the medical complex’s 1,330-bed normal ICU capacity, according to TMC data. The TMC expects to exceed its base ICU capacity by Thursday, June 25.

Across Harris County, there are 1,622 ICU beds in operation, according to data from the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council.…
