Texas jobless claims trend down after March spike

After a spike in unemployment claims in Texas during March, new claims have trended downward so far in April, according to figures from the U.S. Department of Labor. 

First-time unemployment claims filed by Texas workers totaled more than 43,000 for the week ended April 17, according to Labor Department data released April 22. That’s down 35% week over week from 66,552 claims during the week ended April 10.
