Texans 2023 Starting Lineup Breakdown

It’s amazing how the work of an absolute egomaniac combined with the delusion of a youth pastor was able to destroy an NFL roster in such a short period of time.

A lot of the players we see starting every Sunday would struggle to make the roster of any other competitive NFL team. This is the nature of a rebuild with limited spending flexibility due to prior damage that can’t be undone. However, I do believe we are on the right track with accumulating young talent and building a new ground-up roster with some veteran help along the way.

We’re 1-11-1. We suck. And I’ll be starting the Chiefs D/ST in Fantasy playoffs this week because I know we suck. I’ll still be at NRG on Sunday afternoons though, because I enjoy watching football and I believe there are brighter days ahead with the young talent on this team.

As for the 2023 starting lineup, these are the players IMO that have either earned or deserve a chance at the starting role. Any position marked “-“ needs a starting role filled via 2023 Draft or FA.

I understand the desire to replace an inept offense with a franchise QB/star WR1 in the 2023 Draft. I also see the logic in fortifying the worst rushing defense in the league with generational talent at DT/DE. I personally lean DT/DE, but I don’t think there’s a wrong answer with the draft capital and spending flexibility that the Texans have moving forward.

As Shannon Sharpe famously said, “HELP IS ON THE WAY!!!”
