Tech Skillz for Seniors – Volunteers Needed!!
Calling all volunteers!! Joins us as we help teach senior citizens essential computer skills in to lead a more independent life!
During this day and age, everyone needs to have good, basic computer skills to have more independence in their lives. During 2020, many senior citizens were isolated from families and friends since many them had difficulties learning computer skills, especially for using different video conferencing apps, such as Zoom.
That is why the Houston International Jaycees are collaborating with the Chinese Senior Health Services and Chinese Community Center to hold the "Tech Skillz for Seniors" event.
This event will help teach senior citizens on how to use Zoom with two classes from basic to advance skills. From these lessons, senior citizens will gain important skills to contact with their families and friends from the safety of their homes.
We need up to 30+ volunteers to help make this event a success!! Each volunteer will be partner up with one senior to assistance through the course. We are looking volunteers from ages 16+ and up will have duties from:
– assist one senior during the class on the Zoom computer skills to help guide them
– Mandarin/Cantonese translators
– floaters
– enjoying working with senior citizens
Lunch will be provided for volunteers.
DATE: Saturday July 31st
TIME: 9:30 AM- 2PM – If you can't volunteer for the whole time, that's ok! Just let us know when you need to leave.
