The Texas House is expected to begin debate on the proposed impeachment of Paxton at 1 p.m. May 27. The attorney general has been accused of multiple crimes during his time in office.

After a monthslong investigation, lawyers accused Paxton of committing multiple crimes while in office, including securities fraud and misuse of official information.

In a nearly unprecedented move, a bipartisan committee voted unanimously to send articles of impeachment to the full House on May 25. The committee’s recommendation comes after a monthslong investigation into the attorney general.

Twenty articles of impeachment were filed in the House on May 25, following a monthslong investigation. The attorney general has been accused of disregarding his official duty, obstructing justice, bribing people and more.

Georgetown topped the list, with its population increasing by 14.4%, or 10,887 people, from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2022.
