SXSW canceled because of coronavirus concerns
The 2020 version of South by Southwest will not happen after all.
Austin and Travis County officials said in a March 6 news conference that the festival will be canceled amid worries about the spread of the novel coronavirus.
“I’ve gone ahead and declared a local disaster in the city and, associated with that, have issued an order that effectively cancels South by Southwest for this year,” Mayor Steve Adler said.
