Swim Holes Near Houston

Are there any good public swimming spots near Houston? I saw some people piddling in the Trinity River at SH 105 the other day and was wondering if we had any places closer (or if anyone knew anything about swimming right there). Rivers, lakes, springs are preferable. Trying to keep away from crowds, too.
