Swarmed by Mosquitos

I just walked my dog and as he was doing his business I counted more than 10 mosquitos swarming around one of his legs. I received more than five bites in the few minutes I as outside. It's scary out there!!! How do wildlife, like squirrels, even survive it? What do you use – Deep woods?
