Summer Logistics Help

I'm probably going to do an internship in Houston this summer. It would be like right around the Rice University area. I am getting a stipend for the 8 weeks so wondering what the best medium-term housing and transportation would be. Budget is ~$3000 for housing. I'm assuming probably a short-term lease or Airbnb or something like that.
