Suggestions for mom’s 50th birthday dinner

Hi everyone,

I'm visiting Houston with my family from Austin for my mom's 50th birthday. We're going to the museums and the zoo (my favorite haha). Anyways, I'm in charge of planning the dinner and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. She really likes sushi and Japanese food. I have also been wanting her to try Cantonese or Szechuan food for awhile, so suggestions there would be helpful. I'm open to any other type of food as well as long as it's not classical American or Texmex (we have lots in Austin). We'll be staying near the medical district if that helps.
