Subreddit rules regarding COVID Trolling
As the Coronavirus pandemic continues, we've been seeing a increased number of trolls and attempts to derail conversations so we're attempting to step up enforcement of rules. What we don't want to do is create an echo chamber. Beliefs and assumptions should be challenged, but more and more we're seeing people who have no interest in defending or supporting their belief and just want to fan flames. Anyhow, we're going to be expanding on some rules.
- No COVID trolling – Advocating against the medical advice of the authorities, blasting threads with misinformation, posting with no intent to productively engage or support your positions, etc. [EDIT/Clarification: This isn't to say we're micromanaging each comment, but targeted if your comment history shows a history of this behavior or it's an obvious throwaway/alt, etc]
- Personal Attacks / Hate speech – This has long been against the rules, but we're going to be more diligent on enforcement. This includes things like sexualizing political figures.
We'll be removing comments, handing out temporary bans or perm bans depending on severity. I'm sure we're due for some interesting attacks on us in modmail.
Feel free to discuss below and share your opinions.
