Stay away from Byron Logan. Scammer landlord in Houston.
From the beginning he lied to me. He told me all the appliances were working fine, then I signed the lease and moved in the house. After a few days I noticed the washer wasn't working and I told him. He said: "Really? I didn't know it wasn't working. But actually that is not a necessary item like the fridge".
That's a lie right there, because my roommate, who had been living there for months, told me that he knew about the washer not working. She had been telling him about it for months. On top of that he simply refused to fix it. And when I confronted him about it, he told me "if you don't like it you should MOVE OUT!!!". Those were his exact words. This happened week 1 after I moved in.
After that, I requested a few other minor things which he never responded to. Communication with him was hardly existent after I signed the lease.
At this point I decided that I wanted to move out and so I told him and no response whatsoever.
The story doesn't end here. After moving out he kept my deposit in full, claiming that I didn't give him enough notice period for moving out, funny thing is that it was him who invited me to move out in the first place. But more importantly, nowhere in the lease agreement did it mention a notice period for moving out, and this was never discussed either. Adding to the frustration, he also claimed additional charges for cleaning fees, which were not stipulated anywhere in the lease agreement. He was simply inventing charges as he saw fit.
The lease was a one-page thing completely written by him and for him. But still it didn't include any of the claims he was asking me for! I didn't even break his own made up contract.
All in all, my experience with this scammer, Byron Logan, was deeply disappointing and disheartening. His lack of transparency, disregard for tenant concerns, and seemingly arbitrary financial claims made for an incredibly frustrating situation. I believe that it's important to be cautious when dealing with landlords like him.
I hope that by sharing my experience, I can help others avoid similar challenges and make informed decisions when it comes to renting a property.
