Something strange happened in the Texas Lottery and you should be informed.

First off let us get the obvious out of the way. I know the lottery is a horrible "investment" and really does prey on the poor.

With that being said a company by the name of Mido Lotto based in San Francisco, CA owns and operates a lottery app that people located in Texas can purchase tickets on their dashboard.

Either a person/group/entity or Mido Lotto themselves decided to play all 25+ million combinations of the Texas lottery. This particular draw game has not had a winner since September 2022 so that prize available exceeded the amount of possible combinations. It had grown to over $90Million as of April 22nd. At the Cash value option along with paying applicable Federal taxes they would still net upwards of $15-$20 million after costs of purchasing all combinations

The great thing for Mido Lotto (or the group that used them) is that it is perfectly legal to purchase every combination of numbers available. I find it quite impressive personally as they had about 72 hours between the Wednesday night drawing and the Saturday night drawing to do this.

The issue with this is that the purchase of tickets were done with machines that were non-compliant with the Texas Lottery Commission guidelines. Any authorized retailer of lottery tickets is required to be a retail establishment that operates not solely on the sell of lottery related transactions. The address listed does not have a store front.

I'm sure someone could do the math but in order to print 25 million tickets in 72 hours you would need a lot more than a few lottery machines to pull this off. This was a well-coordinated plan that involved dozens of people running a large number of lottery machines 24/7 to secure all possible combinations.

This is the address listed which does not contain a retail space to offer any services.

I encourage anyone that casually plays the lottery here in Texas or if you have family/friends that do to take a few seconds to email the Texas Lottery Commission that you are aware of this discrepancy and ask what they are going to do about it.

I want the Lottery to be a fun and fair experience for Texas Residents as well as people visiting Texas. I would rather have an 80 year old Grandpa is West Texas win it and proceed to blow that money on Slot Machines and hookers as opposed to some group illegally doing this. In order to be an authorized lottery retailer in Texas you must sell goods and services not connected to the lottery as well.
