Someone just tried to open my front door at an apartment I’ve only been at for 3 weeks

I just moved out of a house I shared with my ex into an apartment of my own again since we're separated. My new place is in humble. To be closer to my new job.

It's been a hard adjustment. I'm having a hard time feeling as safe as I did the last time I lived alone. I've got a nest Cam in the mail. But it's not here yet.

I guess I'm just posting because that scared me and I'm alone. I've lived in Houston my whole life, but I've got some PTSD stuff I'm working through and I think it just makes it hard for me to feel safe.

Anyway, I think they left. I keep hearing sounds outside but I think it's my downstairs neighbors. I have a peep hole but my light outside my door is broken. I just don't know why anyone would try to open someone else's door like they're invited when they weren't. I'm trying to convince myself it was innocent. I mean, they left I think so I think I'm ok. I don't have a gun. I've got some knives.

I just want to feel safe. Sorry about all this rambling.
