Someone in this city saved me from a massive stray dog last night

I was out for a run in my neighborhood north of downtown and a massive, very aggressive dog came running out of a closed off private lot nearby. He came at me like a bullet. He was barking like crazy and trying to bite my legs. I was screaming as loud as I could at people who I thought were his owners but they didn’t seem to care. A random person in a car driving by stopped between me and the dog and that sent it far enough away for me to get into his car.

I was terrified by this dog but this stranger seemed genuinely concerned for my well-being and they took me to safety. I’m not sure if I actually said “thank you” amidst all the adrenaline but I will always be grateful. I don’t know how this would have gone down if they hadn’t stopped to help me but I think I would have lost some blood.

Does anyone know what’s going on with the wild dogs around here? Does animal control actually respond to calls about this? And what should you do in the moment as opposed to leaving and coming back another day?

I spoke to the guys who were working there and they said he’s just a stray, they don’t know anything about him and don’t want to bother with animal control. I don’t know how else to get him off the street but he’s come at me before so he’s gotta go somewhere else.

To the person who saved me, I don’t know who you are but if you see this, please DM me.
