Someone explain how Houston Rodeo works

My boyfriend wants to go to the rodeo soon and we are interested in more of the carnival and live rodeo acts. How exactly do we do this? All the ticket options I see are for concerts only. What am I missing??

Just super confused because I see its a concert venue, rodeo, and carnival. Which is great, but how do we get in without having to buy concert tickets?
