Slab car meetups

I've got some friends visiting Houston with me for the first time. I'd like to share with them some real Houston culture so I thought why not go to some slab meetups on the weekends. I heard MacGregor park or MLK in South Park are the spots. Has anybody been to any of these things? How did it go?
