Sketchy Houston Job — WATCH OUT!
hey y'all, so I have seen a few posts like this in this sub (yay! thank you for all the warnings! it's super helpful.) but I wanted to do my own sort of job warning for two jobs / companies in fact. (Please don't hate! i barely post here)
Company #1 is WYZE Beverages! I avoided them fiercely last year after they reached out to me on LinkedIn and although it is registered as a legit business with the Texas Government, they have different affiliated addresses all over Google/Bing/Whatever. Plus they're all wrong and don't actually lead to a company building or whatever. I had this in my inbox as well:
"We are inviting you to come to an interview this Friday, June 25th, between 9 am till 6 pm. or some other days if you prefer. Let us know what time you can come asap. Interview will be held every hour on the hour."
problem is, usually an HR rep or the CEO will schedule with you in an allotted time slot — this is unprofessional for them to just let you 'come whenever' pretty much without letting you know of their time boundaries to some extent.
COMPANY #2: is AuraVox. They do have physical offices but offer hybrid or remote options for work. So many different issues and a simple Google search will reveal how horrible of a workplace is. You might be a newbie in tech and take the bait for any sort of work but this will make you regret it in the future. Bounced checks, tyrant boss, IRS and your bank might actually come after you too! because you have to prove your wages were or weren't bounced and it becomes your liability despite it not being your fault.
Anyways I hope this post helps people. I know I might be called out as a town crier or village idiot but I avoided both — it's highly recommended you all do too! Especially if you're like me and starting off your career in tech. Good luck out there!
