Should we visit?

Girlfriend and I were planning to come to Houston around January 8 jus to shop and eat. We are Vietnamese and the population there is huge so we always wanted to go. 2 concerns-

Is the rise in the omnicron covid variant affecting restaurants, stores, and nightlife? Basically are a lot of places starting to close down (for dine in, etc )

Is the traffic really that bad? We were looking at Airbnb and right away a host told us the traffic was terrible and to leave ample room to get to/from airport. We are from the Midwest so I’m used to driving in Chicago traffic and LA too
