Should I be protesting my taxes?

Hello fellow htown peeps! Need your opinions. I’ve always been under the impression to fight your taxes, until last week when I spoke to a real estate guru. He was telling me not to fight my taxes as it will only hurt you in the long run when you sell. As the buyer will look at taxes when he tries to value the house. Also, informing me the property taxes are deductible. Wasn’t the property tax deduction removed by trump? This is a new construction home and the house is currently being taxed at more than what I paid. I’m kind of lost… I was happy when i just received my email that Hcad knocked off 20k off my tax bill with isettle.

Thanks for reading!
