Short list of Houston fave spots

20-year downtowner here, I thought it would be fun to share lists. Only rule is that the place can’t be a common chain or franchise.

Cheap restaurant – Oishii – this place is so good and cheap that I don’t know how they stay in business.
Expensive restaurant – B&B Butchers – very pricey but worth it, get the carpetbaggers
Bar – Lei Low – get the hot buttered banana drink it is super good.
Club – Barbarella – divey and ecoectic place w a variety of theme nights
Artsy – Dan Flavin gallery – very small but cool gallery, and it’s 1 minute from the Menil if someone wants to dive deeper into an artsy day.
Coffee shop – Agorra – quality coffee, great location and vibe
