Seemingly shady tactics from new property management company. Advice?

Hey Houston,

Recently the apartment building I live in was bought by Alpha Team LLC, a property management group. A few things have gone down that have me wondering whether they are trying to bully the existing tenants out of their existing leases, so that they can renovate and/or charge higher rent. I'm generally one to give the benefit of the doubt, but I'm beginning to suspect some fuckery here.

  1. One of their people gave me a call, and repeated multiple times without giving any other information "We really encourage you to consider ending your lease early." I've got no intention of ending it early; my response was along the lines of "uhh well theoretically I suppose I could consider that", and the phone call basically ended there.

  2. I came home over the weekend to find items had been taken from beside my doorway. Hammock, chairs, and some prayer flags above my doorway had been removed/cut down. I texted a person at the company and she said she wasn't aware of that, but she'd look into it on Monday. It's Tuesday, I sent a follow up text this morning but haven't heard anything back. It was clear that there had been some work done – the pathway by my door had been swept clean and new doormats had been placed down, so I'm assuming whoever did that also took away my stuff.

  3. I came home to also find that the garbage and recycling bins had been removed from the parking lot. I mentioned that as well in my follow up text this morning.

Any one of these things by itself I'd brush off as an honest mistake, but together it seems like there is a possibility that they are trying to make us uncomfortable enough to cancel our leases. Unfortunately for them, I'm a stubborn bastard and if they want to go down this route it will only increase my resolve to stay put till my lease ends later this year.

Anyone have any experience with this company, or any advice on how to deal with this?
