Seeking advice regarding renters insurance

Howdy fellow Houstonians, I was hoping to get some advice on what all I can claim on my renters insurance (I'm with Assurant through GEICO). I'm still without power as of 5/20 and have had to throw out everything in my fridge and constantly order out, buy ice, buy a portable AC, gas for a generator, extension cords etc. I know the food in the fridge can be claimed, but what about the extra purchases I've had to make due to the power outage? And can I claim some portion of rent for loss of use? Any advice is welcome! Lightning and windstorm are under my covered perils
